Creative Wedding Slideshow Ideas

I’m always trying to find new things to do for my couples. A long time ago, I would create these photo slideshows, but it ended up being a big pain, and I don’t think anyone ever saw them. That was like 8 years ago. Things have changed. Software has gotten better, so making the slideshow now takes me about 10 minutes, and now it’s really easy to share these video slideshows all over the place. I’m going to share my process and how I use them, but I thought I’d also share some other creative wedding slideshow ideas.

Creative Wedding Slideshow Ideas

The great thing about making these slideshows is there are lots of options out there for making them. When I started, I researched and looked at several of the options. There were some that were really expensive, some in the middle, and then some that were free. In the end, I ended up going with iMovie for the Mac. It’s free, and it’s relatively easy to use. Basically, I drag and drop photos, add an intro and transitions, and then music. That’s it.

My biggest struggle with music is finding a song that I feel fits and is the right length. I have access to a ton of music through Songfreedom. For most people, they’ll need to search for free music to use. Luckily, there are plenty of sites out there where artists put their music to be used.

Different Types of Slideshows

I mainly create these wedding slideshows after I’ve delivered all the photos. It’s something I can post on social media and give to the couples. There are so many other creative ways to use this, though. I could do this for engagement photos or bridals or if I was really ambitious, I could edit a few photos on the wedding day and have a slideshow to show at the end of the night. Not sure if that will happen.

For couples, these slideshows would be easy to use for the rehearsal dinner or during the reception. In those cases, people normally use a bunch of old photos of the couple from their childhood up to the present. One other creative idea would be to make one of these slideshows to surprise the bride. It could be similar with photos of the couple, but you could also add a video message from the groom at the end. Imagine the bride watching that on her wedding day. Tears will be flowing!

These are just a couple of creative wedding slideshow ideas. I bet there are tons of other ways that I can’t even think of. Making a slideshow is not that hard and can be completely free, so I suggest you try creating one to use in some way. It could make a huge impact!
