Engagement Photos at Devil’s Den: Jessica and Andrew

It’s always smart to have a plan. You’ll be prepared and be ready for most situations. The same goes for communication. It’s always helpful to communicate the plan and all important information. I usually do pretty well with this, but I kind of failed when it came to Jessica and Andrew’s engagement photos at Devil’s Den.

The first issue came with where we were going to meet. I told them Devil’s Den, but I didn’t think that there are like 5 different spots to park there. There’s a visitors’ center, the overlook, the bridge, and a few other spots. I knew that we didn’t have this set, but I wasn’t sure where I wanted to start, so I figured I could just text them the location. Mistake #2. There is no cell coverage around Devil’s Den.

When I got there, I talked to one of the workers about where we should go, and I got some ideas. I then went to text them about where to meet, and that’s when I realized I had no connection. I ended up driving around the place praying for some kind of reception. I managed to find a small spot and sent a message. The problem was that they were also having this issue, so they would be able to send one message and then lose coverage. It was an interesting game of hide and seek.

Eventually, I just went to the spot I wanted to use and sent them a GPS pin. It took some time, but they did find me. I apologized like crazy, but after that, everything went smoothly. We walked down a trail and found several interesting spots including a bridge with a questionable guardrail. Luckily they didn’t crash through it.

Jessica and Andrew smiled the whole time and put up with all the issues with a smile. Once the shoot started, we all just laughed and had fun and I learned a lot about these two. Jessica is a former teacher like myself and is in the art world. Andrew is the programming world and can even make his own games. How cool is that?

Well, I was reminded of an important lesson during Jessica and Andrew’s engagement photos at Devil’s Den: have a plan and communicate! I try not to make that mistake anyway, but now I’ll be even more cautious. Anyway, check out their awesome photos!
