How to Prepare for a Rainy Wedding Day

When you’re planning a wedding, one thing that really scares a bride is the weather. They all want beautiful weather, so people can go outside and be comfortable, but unfortunately, you can’t control the weather. The cold is something people can deal with, but rain can really throw off a wedding. Last week was really rainy, and I was watching it all day Friday hoping it would go away for our Saturday wedding. Luckily for us, Saturday was beautiful! This doesn’t always happen, so I thought I’d share some tips on how to prepare for a rainy wedding day.

How to Prepare for a Rainy Wedding Day

Like most things in life, you have to do prep work in the beginning for things to work out. You really don’t want to just hope the weather is nice for your wedding. You need a plan.

Choosing your venue

The first thing you can do to deal with the chance of rain is to choose a venue that helps you. There are plenty of beautiful outdoor venues, but some of them don’t have any kind of indoors options. This is fine for good weather, but you’re out of luck if it rains. Most weddings these days offer an indoor and outdoor area for ceremonies and receptions. This gives you two options in case it does rain.

Rent Tents

So, what do you do if your venue doesn’t have any indoor options? It’s ok, you still can have a plan. If this is the situation you’re in, I suggest you start looking at tent options. Many of them can be put on notice, so you can decide to use them or not.

Have a good attitude

In the end, you’re going to get married! That’s the whole point of the wedding day. Yes, rain can mess up your plans, but it only ruins the day if you let it. Have a positive mindset. Enjoy being around everyone. Go with the flow and being willing to do something interesting if your photographer is up for it. Some of my favorite shots were out in the rain, and I couldn’t have created them if the couple said no.

I hope you have a beautiful sunny day for your wedding, but if not, I hope you’re prepared for a rainy wedding as well. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help with prepping for it.
