I finished my photography office (after two years)!

Running a small business all by myself can be really tricky at times. I have to take all the jobs that would be spread out in a normal business and do it myself. I don’t mind doing all the work, but I find myself with not enough time. I have so many things to do that I have to prioritize what gets done each day. That means some things get pushed back further and further. Well, about two years ago, I moved into my office, and I had intended on cleaning it up and using it as a space to meet with couples. I finally finished my office! It took forever, but I did have my first meeting there on Monday!

I finished my photography office (after two years)!

There were a lot of things holding me back from using my office. The first real issue was all the equipment and random things that I had stored. I use so much equipment on a normal basis, but I also have a ton of things I’ve accumulated. To fix this, I went through everything and decided what I needed to keep and what I could get rid of. Now, I have two boxes of photography equipment I plan on donating. The remaining equipment I’ve managed to fit into a back storage space. It’s not a pretty sight, so I’ve managed to hide it all behind some curtains.

Clean and clean some more!

The next step was cleaning. My dog is a walking furball, so hair just floats around everywhere. We also don’t have a paved walkway to my door, so dirt gets tracked in all the time. To fix this, I’ve made a stone walkway. It still needs some work, but it at least gives people something to walk on. From there, I swept everything and dusted. Now, things look relatively clean!

A few finishing touches

The last thing was to make it look professional. This is a work in progress, but so far I’ve done a few things. I framed and hung two photos over the couch. I think it gives the place a nice touch and something for couples to look at and talk about. I also put up a few personal photos. I’m all about movies if you didn’t know, so my plan is to have a few Funko Pop statues up. My first one came in yesterday, John Wick! I know that might seem a little weird, but I figure it would be a way to connect with a lot of grooms. If they see that or superheroes, they’ll know that we can get along.

The future!

The first-ever meeting in my office went well. I was scrambling that entire day to get things completely ready. I did have an issue with something I was showing them missing some pages, but at least I was able to figure out the Chromecast and stream everything to my TV. I’m excited to continue to improve the look of things and get more photos put up. I really think this is going to be an amazing thing for myself and my couples. We won’t have to meet up at crowded coffee shops, I’ll be able to put things up on a screen, and I’ll be able to give them more personalized care and really help them get what they need. I can’t wait!
