The wedding blitz is about to happen! Starting this Saturday, I’m busy every Saturday until Halloween! So, I figured I’d try to get caught up on some of the engagement sessions I’ve been doing. I actually went to Kansas City and did a ton of engagement shoots, and it was such an amazing time! Today, we have Courtney and Matt’s Kansas City engagement photos at Shawnee Mission park.

I love going to Kansas City! This is the second trip I’ve made with my wife where it’s been a mini-vacation, but also a photography trip. You might remember Dakota and Zach’s engagement session from the trip last year.
This trip, I ended up doing 4 different shoots! The big thing that was different was having dogs in the session. I wanted to find couples that loved dogs as much as I did.
Courtney and Matt were perfect for this! They love their dog, so much, and he is a ball full of energy.
We ended up going to Shawnee Mission park because it was relatively close to where I was staying and had plenty of space to run around. Honestly, I wasn’t sure where I was going. Shawnee Mission Park is gigantic! I followed my GPS, and luckily they found me.
There were tons of cool spots right where we started. We had a big a shaded patch of grass, a big open field with tall grass, a forest, and a playground (we didn’t play on it, but maybe next time!).
As you’ve probably figured out by now, my favorite part of my sessions is figuring out my couples and learning new things. I had already talked with Courtney and Matt via Zoom before I traveled to Kansas City, so I knew a little bit. Courtney is a teacher, which is awesome! I know how crazy it is right now for them, so I highly respect what she does. Matt has a really fun job. He works for KU in their ticket division. He gets to go to all types of sporting events. KU is well known for its men’s basketball team, so I would be all about that.
This was my first engagement session for this trip to KC, and it was a great way to start off the trip. I swear, I get to meet the most interesting, kind people. I’m so lucky! This engagement session at Shawnee Mission park was so much fun, I ended up coming back again for another session. I’ll have that one up for you guys in a few days!
