How to Lose Weight for Wedding

Weddings are probably one of the biggest days in a person’s life, and looking good and fitting into the dress or tux can be a big stressor for people Many people want to lose weight for the wedding, and it can be a real struggle. I’ve been into fitness for several years now, so I thought I’d write some tips since I’m a wedding photographer as well.

The first thing I want to make clear is that when I say lose weight, that’s not really what most people are really aiming for. Weight is simply a number on a scale and doesn’t always indicate a change in shape or appearance. What most people are really looking for is a fat loss. This will change the body and appearance.

For today, we’ll just talk in general about how people lose weight. Losing weight is really pretty simple. You consume food and you burn calories through activities. If you consume more than you burn, you gain weight. If you consume less than you burn, you lose weight.

The first thing to do is to find out in general how many calories you use/burn in a day. This will vary from person to person and truthfully from day to day, but it’s good to have a general guideline. Here are a few options:

Once you have this number, you know how much you can eat without gaining weight. In general, to lose weight, you probably want to be around 500 calories under that number for each day. With this, you’ll lose roughly one pound a day. Some people will be tempted to just go nuts and hardly eat anything. This is actually a bad thing that we’ll discuss in the future.

Now that you know the basics you will have a general idea how to lose weight for a wedding. In future blogs, I’ll discuss eating, exercise, and other tips that will help you reach your wedding goal.
