I’ve worked a lot with the McCutcheon family over the past few years. Angela and I shared a classroom at Woodland, and I ended up shooting her wedding, maternity, and newborn photos. Then, I shot her brother’s wedding just this last year. Well, I got another surprise when I showed up for Missy’s small, intimate wedding and saw the McCutcheon family. It turns out that she is their aunt. Missy had hired me without any idea of all the work I had done with her relatives. Even funnier, is that I went to school with her daughter. Small world.
Missy’s small, intimate wedding
This was a smaller wedding, but it was very special. Missy didn’t really want a wedding or anything big like that, but her family insisted. Instead of making it a really big deal, they rented out the private room at Bordino’s and brought in their closest friends and family.
The ceremony was brief, but it was something to be remembered. The pastor started off by quoting one of my favorite movies, The Princess Bride. If you haven’t seen if you are missing out. Anyway, there’s a scene in the movie where the preacher is talking at a wedding. What he says isn’t funny, it’s how he says it. He has this really bad lisp and sounds funny. Anyway, the pastor started off in that voice and no one was expecting it. Pretty funny stuff. The ceremony was relatively short, but still emotional for everyone.
The rest of the night was devoted to interacting and talking to each other. I simply went around and took photos of all of this. It was an easy night for me. Toward the end of the night I did grab the couple and shoot some really simple portraits, but that was only about 3 minutes of the night.
I’m really glad that Missy found me and made me part of her small, intimate wedding. Anytime I can work with the McCutcheon family I go for it. They are lovely people and know how to have a good time. I’m sure there will be more in the future.
