On occasion, people will seek me out to shoot their engagements, and I won’t actually shoot their wedding. This doesn’t happen often, but when it does, the couple is usually from the Fayetteville area, so they are looking for Northwest Arkansas engagement photos, but their wedding is somewhere else. This was the case with Kimberly. She found me on the internet and wanted engagement photos, but her wedding was in Branson, so she had gone with a local photographer.
Northwest Arkansas Engagement Photos: Prairie Grove Battlefield
I met up with the lovely couple at the Prairie Grove Battlefield park. I had been to this location once before, but it was for a family shoot, so it was a totally different situation. I didn’t have a ton of time to scout out the location, but Kimberly had some ideas.
It was a beautiful day, with the sun shinning through the trees, and the leaves looked great. The only issue we ran into was the wind and the abundance of other photographers looking to take advantage of the location and the weather. We had to wait a bit to get to some prime spots, and Kimberly was battling her hair, but it all worked out.
There are a multitude of spots around the battlefield. You have open fields, wooden fences, old buildings, trails and trees. We worked around from one place to the next. Like I said earlier, we didn’t really know the area, so we only explored a small portion of it. If we had more time, I’m sure we could have found even a few more places to go.
I do the majority of my Northwest Arkansas engagement photos in Fayetteville because that’s where I live, but I think I’ll add Prairie Grove Battlefield to my list of options. It might be a bit of a drive, but as you can see in Kimberly’s engagement photos, the battlefield has a lot to offer.
