This wedding season I have gotten to go to several new venues. We shot Amy’s wedding at the Barn at Hat Creek Ranch, a few different weddings at the Chapel at Matt Lane Farm, Magnolia Gardens, and now Taylor and Christian’s Wedding at the Barn at the Springs.
Taylor and Christian’s Wedding at the Barn at the Springs
Whenever I go to a new venue, it’s kind of like Christmas and I’m opening presents. I’m never really sure what I’m going to get, but I’m excited about all the possibilities. The Barn at the Springs has some great things that we were able to use for their wedding.
The inside of the barn is pretty impressive. It is a large open space where you can fit about everything you need and still have room for a dance floor. Then you have some rooms extra rooms. There’s a large room for the brides, and comfortable place for the guys, and another room for preparing food.
I started off by shooting some details. Taylor had this cute little ring box with Micky Mouse ears on top. I also got one really cool photo of the dress hanging. I noticed that one of the lights had this heart hanging off of it, so I shoot through it to see the dress. As far as the tables and reception go, I loved all the photos they had on each table of the couple throughout their life, and I loved the popcorn bar they had.
The ceremony area outside is a large concrete area with a wooden platform at the front, and there is also a covered area to the back. The space is large enough for two rows on the slab and more people can be fit under the covered area. I really liked shooting out there. There was a good amount of space to move around on all sides, so I could get lots of different angles.
It was a bit hot outside for the ceremony, but it was well worth it. I loved Christian’s emotion. He looked away for the longest time until Taylor was walking down the aisle, and then you could see it in his eyes. They also did their own vows, which I think is a great idea.
The venue also has a large outside area for taking photos. They’ve got trees, open fields, fences, a pond, a swing, and lots of other things. We used this for all of our portraits. There are two shots that stick out in my mind. We had the couple sit on this tree swing and got some shots of them embracing. Then, one of their friends got the idea to actually push them. It was a little scary. For the other photo, I had the couple out in an open field. I got low to the ground got a nice wide shot of them.
The night was a fun one. There was some dancing, a group shot taken by a drone, and a sparkler exit. Taylor and Christian’s Wedding at the Barn at the Springs was my first one there, and I was impressed. Their wedding was a good one, and I can’t wait to come back for another one.
