Man, it seems like everyday I have some photographer trying to sell me something related to education. They have special brushes, tutorials, videos, or forms. It’s getting to the point where I think all these guys have gone from professional photographers to professional educators. I guess that’s normal though. There are people in every field that end up focusing on being an educator. With that said, I have no problem with education, but I’m am struggling finding good education. I’ve spent several hundred dollars on some pretty worthless stuff, so now I’m looking for the best photography workshops.
The Best Photography Workshops
I’m looking for a workshop because I believe that will be better than any product or video I could buy. With a workshop, there will be a real instructor there that I can talk to and ask questions. It’s not some permanent thing that I have to just watch and learn from. Workshops are also hands on and I learn much more from doing than watching. This can also help build a portfolio if you are new.
There are several good photography workshops out there, but I can’t make up my mind. There are two senior portraits ones that I like. One is by Seniors Ignite and the other is by Dan Frievalt. Both are pretty respected in the industry, but right now I’m favoring the Seniors Ignite because it is much, much closer. For weddings I’ve seen people like Cliff Mautner and Roberto Valenzuela but both are far away and pretty expensive. I just saw another one today for building a headshot business. This intrigued me because at the end of the two days they claim you have your own headshot business. The only thing holding me back besides the price is whether or not there is a need for head shots here.
I’m sure there are closer and cheaper workshop out there but I’m looking for the best photography workshops out there. If I’m going to do it, I want it to be awesome and taught by someone that really knows what they are doing. If you want to be the best you have to learn from the best. I’m going to keep searching and I’ll blog when I do pick a workshop.
